Jim Basnight "We Rocked and Rolled: The First 25 Years with Jim Basnight, Moberlys and Beyond" CD-A spectacular career retrospective collection that highlights the best of all Jim's work, from the Moberlys in the late 70's and the 80's to the Rockinghams and solo work in the 90's to today. It includes a great version of the title track recorded by the current Jim Basnight Band that demonstrates beyond a doubt that there very well could be another 25 years of music in his future. This one is $20, including shipping, plus an additional $2 outside the US. It also has fantastic liner notes that tell a story and set the stage for each track.

"Jim Basnight and the Moberlys Return" CD on the Wizzard-in-Vinyl label (Japanese Import)-The best of both "Sexteen" and "Seattle-NY-LA" is mastered wonderfully, with great liners, photos and graphics. It showcases the band from all its incarnations and captures a sound that is really classic and timeless. This one is more, but worth every penny at $20 plus $3 for shipping, $5 outside of the USA. The liner notes really tell the story of the band and the photos, posters, press clippings and memorabilia capture the feel of a great body of work.

The Moberlys "Sexteen" CD--Moberlys first album, originally released in 1980 on vinyl and released on CD on Bear Family in 1997. Picked #3 underground record of the year in 1980 by Trouser Press and received tons of press all over the US and elsewhere. This collection has over double the tracks from '78-'80 than the original album. It's garage pop at its finest. Kinks, Sonics meets Byrds, Beatles meets Modern Lovers, Heartbreakers. Fresh, raw and high energy and actually sounds more current now than it did in the early '80s.

Jim Basnight and the Moberlys "Seattle-NY-LA" CD---This one chronicles the second version of the Moberlys. Compiled from recording sessions in NY, Seattle, Vancouver BC, and LA from '82-'89 for the Pop the Balloon label in France in 2001. Tons of great two guitars, twangy tunes and harmony vocals stuff. Six of the 23 tracks originally released on the French Lolita label in '85 on the album "Sexteen". All the rest taken from sessions produced by REM's Peter Buck, Roger Moutenot (Lou Reed), Edwin Deshaizo (Paramount Studios LA) among other notables.

Jim Basnight "Pop Top"---First CD release in '93 after cassette only in '92. Includes tracks produced in LA by Rand Bishop (The Wackers, Toby Keith), Mike Morongell (A+M Studios), Geoff Eyrich (Plimsouls) and Peter Buck. Great timeless guitar and vocal harmony pop with depth. It features Al Bloch (Concrete Blond), Mike Czekaj (Fuzztones), Kelly Wheeler (Perry Farrell), Arno Lucas (Peter Gabriel), Ted Bishop (Solomon Burke), Fred Mandel (Alice Cooper), Carla Olson (Gene Clark), CJ Buscaglia (Green Jello) and the Seattle-NY-LA Moberlys.

The Rockinghams "Makin' Bacon" CD---This fine band was a power trio featuring Jim Basnight with Criss Crass (Muffs and many more) and Jack Hanan (Seattle's Cowboys). Tongue in cheek punky power-pop with a bit of outrage. Lot's of fun and certainly a lost gem in the rough. Though it was quietly released on Not Lame in 1999 after band stopped gigging, many songs were released on compilations in the US and around the world in Japan, Canada and Spain. The band had many international fans and was known for it's over the top stage shows. A well kept secret but some of the most fun and rockin' stuff out of the NW in the 90's.

"The Jim Basnight Thing" CD---Jazzy, Folksy, Soulful at times Beach Boys and Beatlesque collection of songs that evolved from Jim's acoustic shows in the 90's that served as an "ear break" from the Rockinghams. The tunes range from fun and witty to romantic and introspective. The use of emotive, animated and often comic trumpet, violin, piano and harmonica as well as acoustic and electric six and 12 string guitars and female and male vocals create a charming and surprising listening experience. Originally released in 1997, during the final period of the Rockinghams it served as the blueprint for the live band which became known as the Jim Basnight Band and have become one of the most successful working bands and well liked regional acts in the NW.

Jim Basnight "Recovery Room" CD---The latest work recorded over 5 years from 1999 to 2004 is Jim's most diverse work to date. A superb collaboration with co-producer/engineer Garey Shelton brings out the best in this collection of strong songwriting. Strong drumming by Ben Smith (Heart) lays the foundation while Mikel Rollins' (who also plays sax and flute on the album) tasty grooves and rocking Rockingham Jack Hanan lay down the bass. Superb showman and noted arranger Geoffrey Castle assembles violin and string quartet style arrangements, while jazzy visionary trumpeter Jim Knodle twists some very surprising sounds out of his horn that range from rich and beautiful to dark and empty. Susan Anthony and Marcella Carros help Jim and the gang to some very outstanding vocal harmonies that will guarantee a goose bump or two. Jim's guitar work which is the widest in scope as well as accomplished of his career is complimented on a few tracks by Jim and Garey's long time friend Bruce Hazen. "Recovery Room" is a triumph and alludes to a bright future for Jim as a writer, producer and recording artist.

Jim Basnight and the Moberlys "Pop Pleasure" LP-A great quality, high fidelity pressing from Roma, Italy on the Rave-Up label is similar to the Japanese CD, but with a couple of different songs. It's just plain cool to put it on your turntable and hear the music coming out of a stereo. The cover is great, with cool photos and liners. It goes for $20, plus $5 for shipping ($10 outside of the USA).

I also have for $10 a piece a 4 song EP from 1984 which includes tracks that are on "Seattle-NY-LA", except for a cover of the Sonics "Cinderella" and a 7" single of Cinderella and one other song from the same CD from 1983. The CD's are $8 a piece (other than "Return") plus shipping ($1 for US, $2 for outside US). All CD's are available for $5 each plus shipping if you purchase a minimum of 10 pieces (copies).
